Education Aim:
The students of this
specialty will not only master the basic theory about
bioscience, but also master the basic theory, knowledge
and technology about biotechnology systematically after
four-year studies. The students not only work as a
teacher in a college or as a researcher in an
institution, but also can find a fitting job in an
enterprise and the department of the government in
industry, medicine, food, agriculture, forestry,
fishing, environmental protection and gardening, where
he can be engaged in application and developing
researching or administration related to biotechnology,
or in management of production.
The student will be
all-round developed in morality, intelligence and
physical fitness. They will have a firm basis on his
specialty and a wide knowledge of the specialty.
Intelligent education:
The students of this
specialty will study mainly basic theory and basic
knowledge about biotechnology. And he will be also
trained with scientific thinking and scientific
experimental skills about basic application researching
and exploiting. He has better scientific attainments, as
well as the elementary abilities of teaching,
researching, exploiting and managing.
As a qualified graduate, he
should gain the following knowledge and abilities:
I. Master the basic theory
and knowledge in mathematics, physics and chemistry.
II. Grasp the basic theory,
knowledge and experimental skills in specialized
subjects, for example, general biology, biochemistry,
molecular biology, microbiology, genetic engineering,
fermentation engineering, cell engineering and basic
principles of biotechnology and methods of product
exploitation.
III. Understand the general
principles and knowledge of specialties related to
biotechnology.
IV. Know well the related
policy and law, the knowledge property right and
bioengineering safety rules of biotechnology industry.
V. Keep informed of the
latest theory, application prospects and the development
of biotechnology including the developmental condition
of biotechnology industry.
VI. Know well how to
search documents and to gain useful information by means
of modern information technology. Have the ability of
arranging experiments, analyzing experimental results,
drawing conclusions and writing thesis, as well as
attending academic communication.
Practical education:
The student will do
graduation practice at the eighth semester, and will be
required to write his graduation thesis and to do thesis
defense during the following 16 weeks.
